Welcome

Who we are

We are researchers at University of Illinois, dedicated to the learning and study of structure-property relationships at high spatial and time resolution, development of electron diffraction and imaging methods, and discovery of novel materials through synthesis and characterization.

In the news

Shear banding mechanism revealed in compressed nanocrystalline ceramic nanopillars. The research by Haw-Wen Hsiao and collaborators shows that shear band forms in the nanopillars through localized and cooperative granular activities involving nanocrack formation. It is published and selected as Editor's suggestion in Phyiscal Review Materials.
